A COLONIAL SCHOLAR.
CHRISTCHURCH, December 15.
Mr L. H. G. Greenwood, M.A. (son of Mr G. L. Greenwood, official assignee) has been appointed Classical Lecturer at Canterbury College as locum tcnens to Professor Haslam, who, on account of ill health, has been granted 12 months' leave of absence. Mr Greenwood, who is a Fellow of King's College, Cambridge, and Assistant Lecturer m Classics at the University of Leeds, was educated at Christ's College Grammar School, and at Canterbury College. In 1898 he was elected to an entrance scholarship at King's College, Cambridge, and in 1901 was elected to an .undergraduate scholarship. He took his 31 A. degree in 1906, being appointed (in 1903) Lecturer in Greek at the Yorkshire College, Leeds. In 1905 Mr Greenwood was appointed Assistant Lecturer in Classics to the University of Leeds. He is of unusually Mgh scholarship attainments, and his treatise on Aristotle has been published under the auspices of the Leeds University Board. Mr Greenwood has cabled accepting the temporary appointment, and ta'ces up his duties at Canterbury Collejre at the commencement of the first term of 1908.
