December 16. — Another of the, old . rcsi« dents of Morven passed away on Saturday last. Mr M. £. Crowe took ill suddenly on the previous Sunday, and became unconscious for several dsye. He took a turn for the better on Friday, but on Saturday morning he pasted away. Deceased was * native of Galway, being born there in 1841, and came to Temuk* in 1868, where he spent seven years. In 1875 he removed to Lowei Waihao and took up land here, which he increased until he .had 1385 acres. The lat« Mr Crowe was a very straightforward man, and highly esteemed by his neighbours. He leave? a widow and a grown-up family of two sons and one daughter to mourn/ their loss. Sincere sympathy is expressed by} all for the bereaved widow and family. School Break-up.— The Morveis School Committee met on "Wednesday last, when all were present, and arrangements were made in connection with the closing of the. school, which takes place this week. It was decided to ask the Rev. G. Barclay, a prominent member of the Board of Education, to present the prizes, and that the cere, mony be held on Thursday afternoon. Dur-j ing the afternoon the children will have some races and jumping, and afternoon tea wilt! be handed round by the ladies and senior] firls. After the picnic the children wili; aye six weeks, for their annual summer vacation. * . Sports. — The annual sports meeting takes place to-day, when there will be a good programme, and everyone should have an enjoyable day* outing.
