A GRUESOME FIND.
MARRIED WOMAN ARRESTED. •» AUCKLAND, December-6. This evening while ■ some boys were bathing on -the beach at the foot of Sen* tincl road, Ponsonby, they discovered the headless body of an infant about a month) old- The body had apparently been ii» the water about a fortnight, and though that head may have been taken off by a shark, the police incline to the belief that it had been severed before the body waa thrown into the water. There is no clue U* identification. December 8A woman named Florence Ferndale, between 25 and 30 years of age, was arrested! late on Saturday night on & charge of murdering the infant whoso body was found: on Ponsonby Bfi»eh. She is a married woman, residing in Symonds street, and it is alleged that -she was the saother of the child. " • * . „» December 9. <■ Florence Frandale, a married .' woman, aged 30, appeared at the Police Court today oiurged with having murdered hoi» infant child, Marion Faxndale, whose headless body wae, it is alleged, found in the harbour recently. Accused was remanded] for eight daye. She stated that she is the wife of a medical man in Congo. Hep father ia said to be a resident of the Waikato.
