FAMOUS PICTURE STOLEN

.Van Dyck'p famous picture "Tha Raising of the Cross," valued at £20,000, has been stolen from, the Church of Notr« Dame. ■ _ The picture referred to is doubtless that' Jcnown as the "Klevation of the Cross," ono of the meat celebrated of this artiat's- Crucifixion series. Tbeee religious works belong; to what is called Van Dyck'a third manner* To it belonsr the " Crucifixion in the Oaths* <|ral at Mechlin," termed by Sir Joshua SHUfuolda the fluent picture in the world.
