NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.
WELLINGTON, July 25. At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Kew Zealand Rugby Union tins ev«riing a letter was read from the "Wanganui Rugby Union asking that its match wvth Auckland be approved as an ordinary chalSenge match for the Ranfurly Shield. This was acceded to. The question of the Auck-land-Hswke's Bay match, at Auckland on August 10. being declared * special challenge match again came up for consideration. The committee now decided that the match should be a special challenge match, the Hawke's Bay Union being allowed transit expenses for a reasonable number of players from Napier to Auckland and back to Napier. It was decided "to ask the South Canteibuiy Union for further information about a player who was disqualified till the end of ISOS for being drunk on the field of play, it bsirg thought that the sentence on this person wj9 too lenient. Consideration of an appeal by the Gore Pioneer Club against disqualification by the Southland Union was deferred for further information.
