HOCKEY.
The competition for the Junior Championship has been declared closed. Otago holds the championship for the ensuing year. The Senior competition will l?e finished on the return of the Otago representative team. AUCKLAND, July 16. The TJni-VOTsity hockey match, played ajt Bemuera yesterday, resulted in a draw, each side scaring 3 goals. In the first spell Begg and Shaw scored for Otago, and Jacobsen for Auckland. In the second half Jacobsen and Alderton hit goals for the home team, whilstGower scored for the visitors. Rybum, Johnson, and Cuttle, among the backs, and Begg and Grower in. the £ojwa»rd division, shaped
well for Otago, whilst in the Auckland team j M*Clure, Crispe, and Tmsley (ba-cks), and j Rands and Jaoobsen (forwards; were preminent PALMERSTON N., July 17. Owing to the stormy -weather the Ot«go hockey representatives failed to connect with the express *t New Plymouth yesterday. Consequently they only arrived "at Palmerston North this afternoon at 3.30. They decided to proceed with the match, being driven to the ground directly on arriva.!. The match was won by ilanawatu by 3 goals to 1, after an interesting game.
