THE RABBIT PEST. WAIERQA. June 13
At a meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association a letter was read from the Gisborne Farmers' Union urging that the Government be asked to erect a rabbit* proof fence to stop the spread of -rabbits. It was denied that the southern portion ofi the Wairoa district was infested. It wa« further alleged that the reports from the inspectors snowed the rabbits to be 2S miles further back than 12 montha ago, and* that there was no necessity for a fence. The allegations made at a recent meeting 7 , at Gisborne were ridiculed. An owner off property in the district said that he had! put the matter into the hands of solicitor* with a view of legal proceedings againstf the official of t3ia Farmers' Union. A' motion was carried to send a reply tha* there were no rabbits north of the Mohaka River.
