OAMAIIU, February 17. A fair amount of business is now being done. Wheat is in request, and a number of parcels have changed hands. Sales of Tuscan have taken place at 3s Id net and 3s 2d and 3s 2Jd, less commission ; velvet, at 3s (Hd and 3s Id net, and 3s ljd to 3s 2d. less commission ; and red chaff, at 33 Id, less commission — f 11 at country sidings. The largest transaction affected 1000 sacks of velvet and Tuscan, the latter predominating, at 3s 2d, less commission. The sample >f new wheat is generally spoken of as being first-class — bright in to our, thin in the skin, and, perhaps, a little small in the berry. Oats are not attracting much attention, but prices are firmer. Garton's have changed Lands at 23 6d at country stations, less com- | mission, and 1000 sacks of Dam«h in a line at 2s 3d net. A few small parcels of new oats have been taken at from 2s 4d to 2s Gd, at country stations, le e s commission. Potatoes are quoted at £6 locaJly.
