INVERCARGILL D.L. F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
The usual weekly meeting of the Invercargill D.L F. Literary and Debating Society was held in the Oddfellow's Hall, Tay street, on Wednesday, February 13. There were pr-esent of the- committee : —Vice-president, Hazel (in the chair), Millicent, Iris, David, and Midgie. The subject previously chosen for debate was " Have pretty girls the bast advantages?" Maidie M. lep.d for the negative, supported by Hazel, whi'e Midgie led for the affirmative, supported by Iris. Papers were read by the leaders and some of the mcmbeis. An interesting discussion took place resulting in a win for the negative side. A letter was read from Willow Brook tendering his resign Etion as patron of the club; this was p.ccepted with legret. A paper which was greatly appreciated by all was Tead by Go Hon entitled How and where I spent my holiday?." After disposing of other ciUb business the members adjourned till Wednesday, February 20.
