It is believed the recent decision of the Conciliation. Board in connection with the demands of employees engaged in the flaxmilling industry will result in several mills in thie district being closed down The amount of the tender of M'Lpan and Sons for the Wellington dock was. £196,261. Other tenderers were: Pulley and, C 0.., £260,167; J. and W. Jamieson, £273,469. Interviewed on the 15th concerning 1 the Seddon memorial movement, the Ministe* ofEducation, said that each centre seemed' to have taken up the movement, in its own way, and the- idea of .the Government was that it was beet to Ipave each locality to decide on the special form which the 1"memorial should take in its district. Messrs Bell. Gully, and Myers have issued a writ for £15,000 *>n behalf of the Shaw, Savilt, and- Albion Oompany agaipet the Auckland Harbour* Board in connection with the Calliope Dock accident. Write also are being issued on behalf of tbe men injured and their families. Mr Baird, the director of Wonderland at the Exhibition, has arrived' from Christchurch to interview the Government concerning proposals relating to the Exhibition and Wonderland. It is understood that in return for certain concessions the company is prepared to allow free admission to Wonderland.
