CAULFIELD GRAND NATIONAL HURDLE RACE, Three miles and a-half, less 92 yards.

Fourteen horses started. Betting: 3 to 1 agst Realm, 5 to 1 Red Sea, 6 to 1 Shamrock, 10 to 1 Florin and Rattlesnake. ,
When the field settled down Conqueror was leading from Realm, but round to the Maud tha la+ter, who was jumping patchily, was leading. Saraßoti took command when going oat of the straight, and obtained a good lead from Realm and Monason. Passing the stand the second time Sarasa'td waa just in front of Mercury ,~with Realm and Monason next. The last-named fell at the sevenfurlong post. Coming down tfoe rai^ay side for home Mercury was just clear of Sarasati and Realm, with Florin next. Realm and Florin entered the straight, and crossed the last hurdle together, but the favourite had Florin's measure in a few strides, and, going easily, won by titree parts of a length. Time. 6 ruin 50sec.
