SALE OF A 'CLYDESDALE COLT.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. (Ltd.) report as follows. — We have sold privately, at a very, satisfactory price, on account of Mr John Wilson, Downshire Farm, Ophir, his rising three-year-old Clydesdale colt Laudermark to Mr William Cowan, Rockyside Farm, Sandymount, Otago Peninsula. Laud-ennark is exceptionally well grown for his age, and is a fine big stylish colt, showing plenty of bone and substance. He has been naturally reared, never overfed or pampered, is a fine straight goer, and should prove himself an ideal sire for getting good active farm horses, which are to much in demand. The colt's sire is Marksman, grand-sire Crown Prince, g-g-sire Lord Salisbury (imp. 7 The colt's dam is Flora 11, by Clydesdale Willie, out of tho celebrated mare Flora, who was champion mare at Oamaru and Dunedin in 1898 ; first as a dry mare at Oamaru; first aa a dry mare at Dunedin; first prize pair with Cairngorm 111 both at Oamaru and Dunedin ; and one of the champion "team both at Oamaru and Dunedin same year. Flora's dam, Duchess jof Timaru, was one of the purest and best mares possible, and a winner of several prizes. Duchess of Timaru was by tho celebrated Young Banker, and was the dam of Prince AiT>ert, the colt sold in Melbourne by Mesurs Reay and Trestrail for 700gs. Mr Cowan is to be congratu. Ilated on his enterprise in securing this high class colt. Wo have no doubt the Peninsula farmers will make good use of his services in the approaching season.
