PROPOSED SHILLING SUBSCRIPTIOXS.

Sis. — Seeing that a suai of £3000 is necessary to erect in Dunediu an art gallery suit- ■ able to house our already valuable collection f of pictures, I hope you will start a sluLing } fund for this object, and I feel sure the f country people will subscribe hugely, as well as our own townsfolk. During their visits to town it will hi an extra place of interest for them to spend a spare moment, and they will feel an additional interest in it if they have- subscribed even or.c shilling towards its erection. If you will kindly consent to take | charge of contributions ana push it. I feel i sure you will tind the effoits of your valuable paper amply rewarded, and to start the list I herewith enclose the sum of Twenty Shillings.
