SHIPPING NEWS.
THE DIRECT STEAMERS. - The Paparoa. left Wellington at 1.10 p.m. ; on Thursday for London. Tho following vessels have arrived at the port during the past week: — Hawea, s.s., 1114 tons; Advance, scow. 38; Waipori, s.s., 1229; Koonya, s.s., 663; Monowai. s.s., 2137; Waikare, s.s., 1901; Invercargill, s.s., 123; Corinna, s.s., 812; Warrimoo, s.s., 2076; Zealandia. s.s., 1735;— total, 11,826 ' tons. The following are the departures for the same period :— Pakeha, s.s., 4331 I tons; Invercargill, s.s., 123; Hawca, s.s., 1114; Manuka, s.s.. 2784; Eunice, schooner, 171; Koonya, s.s., 663; Monowai, s.s., 2137; Invercargill, s.s., 123; Waikare, s.s., 1901; Warrimoo, s.s., 2076; Corinna, s.s., 812; Waipori, s.s., 1229;— total, 17,464 tons. The Perthshire, whioh is now on the New Zealand coast, is due here on the 25th inst. She has about 1300 tons of cargo from New York for this port. After completing her loading in this colony she will sail for London direct for the Shire Co., sailing about April 12. The Mamari, from Liverpool, which arrived at Auckland on the 10th inst., is due here about the end of the present month, and will discharge at Dunedin. She brings about 1200 tons of cargo for this port. The steamer Ruapchu, of the New Zealand Shipping Company's fleet, put up a good steaming performance on the -run from London. She left Hie Home port on January 25, and arrived at Capetown a day ahead of time-table date. On the run from Hobart to Wellington she recorded 4d lhr 30min, which is the top performance for the ships of the company's fleet.
