Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. report as follows : —"We held our fortnightly sale of ludes at our stors3, Crawford street, on Thursday, 2nd November, when there was an average attendance of buyers. We offered a catalogue comprising 484, and as competition was good we had a very satisfactory sale. AU classas were well competed for, and brought rates fully up to those lately ruling. Included in our offering were several very good lines of stout ox, and for one of these we secured the very high price of B|d per lb. Moritzson and Co. report as -follows :-— We held our usual fortnightly sale of hides at our stores ; comer Crawford and Cumberland streets, on Thursday, when we offered a catalogue of 230 hides, including yearlings and calfskins. The attendance of buyers was large, and all descriptions met with keen demand. Light hides were again ruling comparatively' higher than other classes, some prime lots fetching as high as s|d, whilst medium, heavy weight, and extra prime ox sold at -prices equal to those paid at the sale a fortnight ago. Calfskins and yearlings ruled at higher prices than those paid a fortnight ago. We quote: Extra prime ox (stout), Sid to 7d; extra heavy, sfd to 6Jd; medium, 5d to 54d; light, 5d to s£d; cows — extra heavy (stout), 5d to s!d; medium. 4!d to 5Jd; light, 5d to s£d; out ox and cow, 4d to 4fd per lb; yearlings— good 9s to 10s, small 63 6d to 8s 6d; calfskins—large 3s 6d to 4s 6d. medium 23 9d to 3s 3d, small 2s to 2s 6d; horse hides, 7s 6d to 9s 6d each.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) reports: — We held our regular fortnightly sale of hides by auction at the Otago Wool and Grain Store, Lower Rattray street, on Thursday, when we offered a very full catalogue, all in fair condition. We had a full attendance of buyers, who competed spiritedly for all the lots offered up to prices lately ruling, and there being buyers for all sorts the catalogue was readily disposed of. Quotations: For extra stout ox, 6id to 7d; good to best heavy, 6d to 6id; medium, 5Jd to s£d; light, 5d to s|d; heavy cow, sgd to s|d; medium, 5d to 5Jd; light, -4jjd to sd; inferior and bulls, 2id to 3id per lb; yearlings, 5s 3d to 10s; calfskins. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows- — We held our usual fortnightly sale at our Maclaggan street stores on Thursday, when there was a full attendance of buyers. Our catalogue totalled 484 hides, comprised of 245 ox, 97 cow, 25 yearlings, and 117 calfskins. With few exceptions our offerings were all in very nice condition, but only some half-dozen lots could be classed as extra stout, the balance being of average quality. Bidding was keen throughout the sale, and prices given showed a slight advance on extra stout heavies, and an advance of id to id per lb on well-flayed mediumweights, both ox and cow. We. had no ox or cow hides of special memt, and our iop price for ox was 6|d, and for cow hides 5Jd. Extra "prime, stout. hea\y ox hides were in good demand, and sold at an advance 'on lat9 rates. The O(a°o Farmers' Co-operative Association of New Zealand (Limited) report:— We held our iis.ual fortnightly sale of hides at the wool and grain stores, Crawford and Vogi-1 eitroets, on Friday. There was a very full attendance of buyers, who competed very keenly for each and every lot on the catakene of 173 ox and cow hides an 361 calfskins. The bulk of our consignments came from country butchers and the north coast, all of which were in fairly good condition. There veere no hides of very special merit included m orar catalogue, consequently wa had no record prices to mention. Meet of the hides were from country butchers, and were on the whole a fauly good lot, being well-flayed, clean, and in tip-top condition, though some were heavyweights. All the buyers were m attendance, and bidding throughout was very lively, the satisfactory prices realised a fortnight ago being obtained for all classes except light tides, which were occasionally a fraction lower. Messis Waters, Ritchie, and Co. report : — We held our usual fortnightly sale of hides' at the stores, Crawford street, on Friday. There was a. laxge attendance of buyens, and competition was very keen. Prices, as compared with the previous sale, 9howed a slight advance, being most; Loticeable in x medium and heavy-weights. The following were our top prices, though we had nothing of special substance. Two ox, 6Jd; two do, 6gd; three do,.6id; five do, 6Jd; four do Cd; five do, 5Jd.; two, s|d; three' do, Egd; six do, s|d. We offered 23j3 hides and' palfskinis, and cleared the lot at quotations'.
