BLACK and RED is a rich brown, standing 15.3, and is a splendid type of the thoioughbred. He was got by Maxim and Aqualate, the dam of Black and Red was got by July, brother to Sir Modred. Black and Red won the D.J.C. Nursery Handicap, D.J.C. Anniversary Handicap (1£ miles), C.J.C. Final Handicap (one mile) in lmin 46sec, D.J.C. Forbury Handicap, C.J.C. Handicap, and has several other races. Black and Red had winners in Black and Brown and Red and Black, who are the first of his stock to race. By the above it will be seen that MARCONI is from the best strain of Clydesdale blood, as his near relations are the champions of the present day in Scotland. At the Old Cumnock show in April, 1905, MARCONI'S yearlings were first, second, and thnxl, which speaks well for his first yeai at the stud.
