WAIKOUAITI NATIVE LANDS COURT.
A Native Lands Court was opened at Karitans on Tuesday, 29th ult., for general purpose* in connection witk Waikouaiid Native land questions, special jurisdiction being conferred upon the court to enable the Native Lands Commissioner (Mr Bishop, S.M.) to dea-l with. -IS acres of land originally set apart in 1887 for the purpose of a township settlement, or Native village, at Moeraki. This area was originally vested in certain Native trustees until it should be otherwise dealt with ox disposed of. Certain claims having been mads in connection with it, the court adjourned on Friday until next Thursday, the block to bo surveyed in the meantime in order that certain boundaries may be defined and various claims determin-ed in pursuance of an Order-in-Council dated July 25, 1904. The validity of the title for the main block is not affected in any way, and does not therefore coma within the scope of the business being dealt with by the Native Land Court.
