DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.

Saturday morning on 'Change brongftt to a close a quiet week and one during which, on. account of the disorganised state of dredging and- the high stata of the rivers, little inclination was shown to do business. What transpires on 'Change is, of coxxrse, no guide as to what actually does take place outside, and it would appear as if the Stock Exchange were merely a place for members to throw out feelers preparatory to tie effecting of transactions subsequently. On Saturday morning the market was dull', and no business was recorded, but more than usual attention was paid to investment stocks. The river showed a fall of only lin since the previous day, being at the 7ft 6in mark at Alexandra, with the weather cold. As could only be expected' with the present state of the river the returns tohand are extremely few, and in the majority of cases very N small. The> share nia>rk«t opened quietly on Monday morning, and, although the day's business amounted, tc four transactions, the general demand for mining scrip showed very little improvement as compared with last week. Hartleys, New Bendigoes, and- Riley's Beaches were about tlae only stocks for which inquiry was in any way better. Electrics and Golden Runs were placed on offer, but attracted no notice, and in a number of other stocks there- was little or no movement. In investment stocks a transaction was put through in Milburn Lime (10s) shares at 13a 6d. The river showed a drop of. six inches since Saturday, being at the 7ft mark at Alexandra.
