REPORTS FROM WORKING DREDGES.

; Tlie secretary of the- Patterson's Freehold Company reports a, return of 28oz from, tha No. 1 dredge for last week, and 19qz sdwt from tbje No. 2 dredge. In both cases the gruond was- reported' to- be improving. The retwrn. fronn the Bellevu* dredge last week was 370z sdwt for 126 hours' work. The secretary of. the Sailor's. Bend Company reports receipt of a wire from the driedgeniasfcer to the effect that he- h«.d washed up for ft return of 220z as tfe result of 24 hours' work on bottom The secretary of the Lady Annie Company reports a return of 330z 16dwt for 135 hours' W oik. The secretary of the Otago Company reports a return of 15oz from, the No. 1 dredge for 112 hours' work.' The river is still too high for the No. 2 dredge to commence work. The secretary of the Pactolus Company r«porta a return of 41oz 7dwt for 12ft hourswork. There was no wash-up on the Xo. 2 dredge.. The secretary of the Rise anct Shine Com■nany renorta a return of 350z 17dwt from the I'To. 2 dredge for 176 hours' dredging. The Xa. I X dredge is still under repair.

The return fioru Ihe "Waikaka United No. 1 dredge last week was 31oz 16dwt for 121 hours' work. There was no wash-up en the No. 2 dredge owing to a, new string of buckets Lfang put on. The secretary of tho Chicago Company reports a return of 21oz 16dwt 6gr for 111 hours' v-ork. The ground was very hard. The master of the Perseverance No. 1 dredge reports washmg-up for a return of 17oz 4dwt as the result of 113 hours' work. Both dredges were hampered) with drift, in consequence of which the master of the No. 2 dredge did not wash. up. Mr L. Ryan, Alexandra South, reports that ther Molyneux Hydraulic dredge is working steady after having had an overhaul. The dredgemaster washed up for a return of 38oz for eight days' work.
