Notes from Reefton. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
REEFTON, June 29. The Big River Company's mine manager roports : — '" During the week No. 8 level, "west drive, has been extended 4ft, making the distance from the cross-cut 39ft. There is eiglitr inches of stone in the face of the drive. The Tvest drive has been discontinued tmtil a connection is made with the bottom of the "winze. We staited the uprise on Monday, and it is lift above the level. Thi track is good, with broken stone in it."
July 1. The Alpine Company's mine manager reports: — "The intermediate was extended south sft, making the total distance 26ft. There is Bft Gin of stone in this face. Theie is no improvement m the quality. Going north, the intermediate was down 6ft from the uprise startings* cm 6ft of. stone which has
narrowed down -to 3ft. The quality is verj good.
