OTAGO UNIVERSITY TEAM FOR SYDNEY.
The following players have been selected to represent Otago University on the Sydney tour : —Backs— Borrie, Macpherson, Adams, Cameron, M'Padden, Heale, Lomas, Scannell, Crawford; forwards— M Donald, Bartrum, Foote, Statham, Tansey, br. Thomson (captain), Chapman, Murray, A. lliomson, Shand. ... , The following is a short criticism oi the individual members of the team, which is leaving for Sydney on Wednesday : — Borrie.— Half or full back. A very good defensive player; fine kick; rather slow in attack. . , Macpherson.— An extremely clever and resourceful player on attack or defence; undoubtedly the best wing three-quarter here this season; showing brilliant form for his club. Adams. — Centre three-quarter. A brilliant attacking player ; quick to make and seizean opening ; sound defence. Cameron.— A very fast wing threequarter; attacks with great judgment. Heale.— Five-eighths. A very clever player ; makes fine openings and passes well; fast, and takes the ball in any posi-
tion. Lomas.— Five-eighths. A very sound player; clever at seizing openings; inclined to hang to the ball. Scannell. — Scrum half. A splendid kick and very clever at opening up a game. M 'Donald.— Front-ranker. A first-class hooker, and good in the loose. Bartrum. — Front-ranker. A hard, honest worker in scrum or open work. Foote. — A good forward; excels in lineout work; plays well to his backs. Statham. — Lock. A heavy and fast forward ; also good on the line-out. Tansey. — A hard worker; better in the loose than in scrum work.
G. Thomson (captain). — The hardest worker in the forwards; excels in dribblingrushes.
Shand. — A fast forward; follows up well, and good in loose rushes. Chapman. — A nuggety forward, and a very fair front-ranker. _ Murray. — A fast forward, and very good on the line.
A. Thomson. — Wing forward. Very clever with his feet, and also a fine line player.
M'Padden. — Half or three - quarter. A fast back ; tackles well, and very good at fielding the ball. Crawford. — Five-eighths. "Very good on the attack, but must learn to pass quicker.
