OTAGO LAND BOARD.

- The usual weekly meeting of the Otago liand Board, held on Wednesday, was attended toy" Messrs D. Barron (Commissioner of Crown ■Lands), J. Tough, G- Livingstone, and J. M. fil'Kenzie. George Leal wrote asking the board to reiconsider his application for section 33, block Til, Woodlaoid district. — The letter was received, Rind decision previously arrived/ at adjfaered to. -William Jennings, licensee of section 18, Iblock XIII, Blackstone district, applied to be allowed to acquire the section under occupa-ttion-with-right-of-purchase license. — Declined. -Ranger O'Neill reported that a large quantity k>{ surface soil has been removed from, the mmmg 1 reserve in block 11. Teviot district. — •Mx Uren to be required to pay for the soil Kaken, estimated at about 350 loads, at the rate of 6d per load. 'Xhe'Waikouaiti and Lake County Councils forwarded statements of proposed expenditure 'pi " thirds " and " fourths " for period from lanuuy 3 to March 31, 1905.— Approved. . William White applied for a small area ad- . joining his residence site, Tarras district, — ■^Referred to Ranger Mackenzie for report. ' Ranger MTDcugall forwarded an application fiom James M'Kee for a license to cut posts, xails, and props over an area of 20 acrea at the Vack of section 23868, Makaroa. — License granted at royalty rates for a* term of 12 Month's. " The Maniototo County Engineer wrote rojfliesting that when the unsold sections in the town of Ranfurly are dealt with under license provision be made for the county obtaining , gravel therefrom. — Received; request to be .taken into consideration when further sections •re being dealt with- " Stronach, Moiris, and Co. wrote stating that Jthey have been requested by several farmers Jn the Greenfield Settlement to start saleyards Jthere, and asking- if the board would agree to •H. E. Pitt, lessee of section 52a, sub-leasing a poxtion of his section lor that purpose. — The •board will b© prepared to favourably consider the application after the lapse of 12 months from the date of selection. The Taieri County Council's Engineer forwarded a plan showing deviation of road at Stoker Hill, on which it is intended to expend "fourths" from Stewart's, M'Rae's, Elliott's, Johnstone's, and Freeman's small grazing runs. — Plan approved. The Warden, Lawrence, reported that thereis no objection from a mining point of view to section 20, block XXXII, Town of Havelock, being offered for sale. — Applicants to deposit survey fees. A. Shanks wrote with reference to the aubtlivision of portion of the Wharekuri Coal Reserve, and asking that he be allowed to acquire on lease-in-perpetuity that portion of the reserve lying between the road and the liver. — Governor to be recommended to remove the reservation from this part of the Coal Reserve and to grant 18 acres of it to A. • Shanks under 1.i.p., at a capital value of £1 ! per acre. ' - The Tuapeka County Council forwarded statements of proposed expenditure of "thirds" • -and " fourths " for periods 3rd October to 31st • December, 1904, and 3rd January to 31st •March, 1905.— Approved. . Messrs Gilkison and Hutton forwarded an 'Application by Annie Davidson for an occupation, lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894," over an araa of 21 seres in Tiger Hill district, on small grazing _run No. 244p. — It was decided that as the Jand applied for is part of a small grazing run ihe board has no power to grant the application. Smith, Macgregor, and Sinclair applied, on i>ehalf of Mrs Sf. Long, to be allowed to 'purchase sections 108, 109, and 116, block I, ffuapeka East district.— Held over for further jeport. . ' A. B. Armour applied iot a license to occupy an area of two acres in the north -corner of section 15, block 11, Gimmerburn 'district, Camping Reserve, on which to erect [yards for the convenience of his travelling ( stock. — Yearly license granted at a rental of 'jss per annum. A. G. C. Miller, on behalf of A, S. Edgar, Applied for a license to occupy Gravel Reserve, section 29, block IV, Glenkenich dis.trict.—Granted, subject to gate being placed in fence for convenience of county in obtaining gravel. t Ranger O'Neill forwarded a report on seciiona 9 and 10, block VIII, Teviot- district.— Section's 9 and 10 to be offered for selection, grouped, under 1.i.p., at a capital value of 7s 6d per acre. ' Consideration of application was asked by £Thomas Frank Christian for an occupation lease under "The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894," over sections 118 and 128, Iblock IX, Maruwenua district.— Mrs Jane Cole ■wrote with reference to her fencing on the sections. — Application granted. W. Anderson wrote with reference to hie •pplication to be allowed to occupy section 1, tlock XV, Town of Ranfurly.— To be alowed 'fto occupy the section during the pleasure of " the board. ■ The board wa3 requested to authorise the Heceiver of Land Revenue to deal with the sxim of £8 2s, paid as valuation for fencing on sections 47, block VI, and 8. block VII, Tiger Hill district. — Receiver of Land Revenue to fay to A. Jopp. Ranger Atkiason reported on the applica-

tion by Thomas Gateley for permission to remove gravel from section 10, block XV, Maniototo district.— Report adopted, Gateley to bo allowed to remove gravel from the section held under yearly license by Mr Hastie. An application to transfer v.h. 239, A. Kerr to Laura V. Dowle, sections 28 and 29, Town of Koinako. — Approved. A number of remaining applications will be dealt with this morning.

Cook under occupation lease under "The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894."— Rent to be 2s per acre. •Ranger Atkinson wrote suggesting rental for section 69, block IX, Maruwenua district, granted to Charles Gardiner under occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894."— Rent to be 2s 6d pelacre. Ranger Atkinson reported tha-t William M'Grath was now complying with the residencs condition of the occupation lease under which he held section 102, block IX, Maruwenua district. — Received. The Taieri County Council forwarded statement of proposed expenditure of " thirds " and " fourths " for period January 4 to March 31, 1905.— Approved. Application for rural land on occupation with right of purchase tenure: 4456, William Kirk, section 5, block XII, Warepa district.— Approved. The board was requested to authorise the adding of closed road line adjoining section 44, block 111, Cromwell district, to the license over the said section. — Approved. G. C. Hunter wrote with reference to section lA, Duncan settlement, held by him under lease in perpetuity. — Application for surrender declined.
