Saturday morning brought to a close tin fixni'est and busiest week on the Stock Exchange this yearr"Saturday's market itself was not a very brisk one, dealing being limited to a couple of transactions, but the tone nevertheless was firm and inquiry good. First Chalices. Riley's Beaches, and Sailor's Bends were the three stocks to show a firming, good request for the first-named ending m a transaction at a satisfactory figure. Electrics were a<:ain somewhat easier, and inquiries for Golden Gates and Runs met wrfJi no response. Manuherikias and Muddy Creeks both drew fairly good notice, Jrat m each case holders were quoting wide*. Sailor's Braids ■were also firmer, and the quotes— buyers 16s 6d sellers 17s— although fairly olo<>- did not eventuate in business as far as the Exchange ■was concerned. The share market opened rather quietly on Monday morning, and the first call-over terminated with * couple of transactions, in the afternoon, however, there was considerable movement, which was almost entirely centred round Riley's Beach stock. A wire announoecj on 'Change to the effect that this dredge had commenced work again had the effect of hardening values and stimulating an inquiry which culminated in no less than seven transactions, the largest number effected in any one stock at sb sitting for some considerable time. These, together with the two registered in the morning brought the total dealing for the day m this stock up to nine sales, and at the close the quotes were near enough for stilly further business. First Chance and Sailor's Bend valu-es were also bard'er, and a sa-le was brought off in the former at a good figure. Electrics were inclined to he easier. Alpine No. 2 shares had an inquiry on Mouday at 6s, and a seller responded at 7s 9d ; but Bignell's No Towns, placed on offer at 15s, and Dunstcui Leads at 8s 6cl, drew no notice. Buyers of Electrics were easier at 30s, and holders just a shade firmer at 33 a Golden Runs were a good deal firmer, buyeis offering 3ls 6d as against 30s on Saturday last, and holders quoting as high as 355. Hartley and RiiLeys received notice on a very wide market, as also did Manuherikias, the quotes of the latter stock reading— buyers 28s 6d, sellers 355. First Chances again commanded improved notice, and a sale was brought off at 12s 6d, requests for fvuther lots at 12s 3d meeting with no response.
