M.Z. FACTORY BUTTER & CHEESE MAKERS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting was held in the board room tof the Agricultural Hall on Thursday evening to consider the advisability of forming a branch of the association as established in the North 'Island. Mr Middleton, of Canterbury Central Dairy Company, was in the chair. Mr Curie (Hawera), secretary of < the North Island Branch, explained the objects of the association, and it was unanimously decided to form a branch of the association in the South Island, all present handing in their cames and payiag their sabseriptioaa.
Mr A. Milno (Mataura) was appointed president, and Mr Kcay (Seaward Downs) secretary of the branch, and the meeting adjourned till this (Friday) morning at 10 o'clock. The objects of the association arc hie advancement of dairying generally, the consideration of the best means of conducting butter and cheeso factories with the greatest degree of efficiency, and the safeguarding of the interests of those engaged in the dairy industry. The South Island Branch of the New Zealand Factory Butter and Cheese Makers' Association, which it was decided on. Friday to form, mar in the board room of the Agricultural Hall on Friday morning, Mr A. Milne, of Mataurua, occupying the chair, and there being about 20 members present. The Chairman mentioned that a secretary and oreaident had bean appointed, and it remained to form a committee and eleot vice-presidents. The following were appointed a committee: — Messrs H. Bacon (Gorei). G. Ret-yes (Otarna), J. Taylor (Temuka), E. C. Woods (Waikouaiti). J. Smellie (Inverearg-i]]), J. Bain (Barry's Bay), W. M 'Donald (Omimi), and W. Hislop (Tuturau). The vice-presi-dents elected were Messrs J. Middleto-n (Canterbury Central), A. Cunningham (Wyndham), and J. Sawers {Ede-ndale). The Chairman said 'that really concluded the business. They would wait till they saw how matters were arranged in the North Island. Tbey would see their rules ,ancl apply such as ware suitable to' their own requirements. It was decided to hold the first meeting of committee on the 14th of July, during show week at lnvercargill.
