The Board of Trade returns for May show that the imports increased by .62,052,869, and tfce experts by £ 2,920,604, including an increase of £1,154,617 in cotton. The total quantity of -wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,930,000 quarters; and for the Continent 2,250,000. The Atlantic shipments are 47,000 quarters. Stocks and shares: Banks — Australasia, £90 to £92 ; New South Wales, £40 to £41 ; Union, £47 to £48; the rest are imchanged. Copper: Spot, £66 ss; three months, £66 23 6d. . Lead, £13. „ At the tallow sales 1375 casks were offered, and 500 sold. Mutton— fine 28s 6d, medium 265 ; beef— fine 26s 3d, medium 245.

The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be £36,271,000; reserve, £27,327,000; percentage of reserve to liabilities, 50.36. The notes in circulation total £29,397,000 ; public deposits, £12,519,000; other deposits, £4,163,000 ; Government securities, £14,171,000 ; other securities, £28,453,000.
Three months' bills are discounted at 2 per cent.
Consols ane quoted at £90 15s.
The wheat markets are quiet but steady ; 31s 6d was bid for an Australian cargo off the coast, and 31s 6d to 32s 3d for cargoes afloat.
Flour is improving-, and there" is fair business. Glasgow, 24s 6d_£ spot, 23s 9d tg 24a shipment.
The following are the quotations for colonial Government stocks compared with those ruling a week previous : —
The American visible wheat supply is 28,532,000 bushels.
Copper : Spot, £65 15s ; three months, £66.
Tin : Spot, £13"6 7s 6d ; three months, £135 15s. Pig iron, 45s 6d. Butter : Dull, and unchanged. The rain has checked the- demand. There are but small offerings' of colonial butter.

The Bradford wool market is very firm ; forties, 16^d.
June 11. Conner: Three months, £65 17s 6d to £66 2s 6d. Silver, 2s 2 15-16 d per oz. Copra: Dull. South Sea, afloat, £16 10s; early shipment, £16 ss. Linseed oil, £22.

Beef: Hinds, 3Jd ; fores unchanged. Rabbits : No business. Hemp: Dull. Prices unchanged.
