TIMARU GRAIN MARKET,
"Wheat. — Although business during the past week has not been extensive, what sales have taken place have been at an advanced rate, and there is generally a decidedly better tone in the market. The majority of growers have now their grain safely garnered, and are not anxious to_ sell at present rates, but would readily ship if a cheap freight were offered. Values are: Tuscan 3s, velvet 2e lid, f.o.b. Timaru, sacks extra.
. Oats. — There is a decided shortage of oats in this district, and farmers are purchasing from merchants for horsefeed, having underestimated their requirements. A fair coastal business is being transacted' at late xates. i Chaff is somewhat easier, and there is not much offering. . Potatoes are in good demand, and growers are asking more than merchants are prepared to give. Ths current price is £5 10s f.0.b., Backs in.
