INVERCARGILL D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Dear Dot, — The ordinary weekly meeting of the Invercargill D.L F. Literary aiid Debating Society was held in the Oddfellows' Hall. Tav stieet, on Wednesday evening, May 31. There were present of the committee— The president, Willow Brook (in the chair), Zealia, Ceres, Southland Cynic, Southern Cross, and Rewa. The subject for debate was : : "Boardinghouse versus Tent Life," and the papers and arguments put forward by the contending parties were listened to with the closest attention. The debate resulted in a well-merited win for ohfc atii^pcriotc -oi tent life. The remainder of the evening was devoted to humorous readings, and a pleasant and profitable half-hour was spent in listening to the selections of the various readers. We would remind our comrades in other parts that our next open meeting takes place on June 21, when we will be pleased to receive papers on any subject the wiiter may choose.
