WAITAHUNA.
May 21.—The annual harvest thanksgiving vas held; in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, 14th inst. The church was decorated for the occasion, and the thanksgiving hymns were very appropriately selected. The service waa conducted by Mie Rev. J. S. Reid. Ball—The Oddfellows' Lodge beld' their annual ball on Wednesday, 17th ?nst. The night was fine, and the attendance was very good. The annual statement of accounts was made by Mr Ferris, and a hearty welcome was extended to_ the visiting brethren. A most enjoyable time was spent, a number of songs being rendered during the evening. The music was in the capable hands of Messrs M''Kenzie and Fuiasetk, assisted by Miss Fuldseth ami Mr Roughen. The duties of M.C. were performed by Mr F.*P»nnell. Whilst on the subject of lodges, it may be mentioned -that the lodges find a great difficulty in securing the services of a capable medical man for the" district. They get medical men in plenty, but for some reason or other they cannot keep them, and one medical man is -lot able ta! cope with the work of such a large district. Political—Mr Allen held a meeting in Waitahuna on Friday evening, 19th inst, and was, as itsual, well received, the meeting concluding with a vote of confidence. Mr John' Smitl*
