The amount of gold exported from the Port of Greymouth during the month of April was 66070z lOdwt, valued, at £26,438.

The Jamieson's Reward dredge obtained 340z for 80 hours. The machinery, which had been giving trouble, is now in first-class order. The Nelson Creek dredge is hampexed greatly by "tailings, which in places are 60ft above the water level.

The Gabriel No. 2 dredge and the Aldinga dredge are both in the hands of tributers, but •the machinery gives a lot of trouble. The wash in tha Gabriel No. 2 claim is hard and rough.

- The New Trafalgar Company's plant is now Hearing completion, and it is confidently expected that the contractor will have a trial run out of it within a fortnight. This will be one of the finest plants on the Coast, and will suit the difficult ground of this claim. The dredge i 3 of Payne'a design, and fully revised to suit the ground by Mr Roberts. It is a very powerful' plant, with many special features, and will have the finest elevator on the Coast. GREYMOTJTH, May 7.

The share market was dull. Last night Bignell's No Towns fluctuated a little, buyers going back 6d. Sellers, however, showed no inclination to sell for less than 15s 6d. Paotolus shares are firmly held at 31s. No Towns were offering at 20s. Blackwaters hardened towards the end of the week.

Sluicing is in full swing, and some are doing remarkably well- About 20 claims, however, are merely paying expenses-. The- Jamieson's Rewaard dredge is on an excellent run of gold. Her return of 540z was for about four and a-half days' work. The wasJi is light and free from boulders.

Bignell's No Town dredge got 520z 12dwl for about nine day's run. The wash is again making, and will likely give an increased return this week.

The Blackwater wash is also improving, or rsuther the dredge is getting on to the thicker part of the lead, and will likely exceed her -50oz obtained last week.

The Pactolus Company got 690z lodwt from both dredges. Both machines were- in rougher ground and a -good deal "of time was lost.

The CaJlaghan's Creek dredge got 30^oz for 133 hours. During the last two days the dirt improved.

. The Greenstone Three-mile dredge obtained 20oz. .There is not much sign of an improvement.

The Greenstone Junction and Nevr Greenstone dredges are -working about half the week -with poor results. The Greenstone Creek dredge will get a, fresh

start on Friday.

The Moonlight dredge is getting near the stopping point. The last wash-up gave 7oz 3 6dwt. The rough ground is tearing the machinery very mitch.

A syndicate of workers is being formed to buy the Totara- dredge.
