CLEARING SALE.
Messrs Donald Eeid and Co. (Limited) report having held a clearing sale on acount of Mr James Stewart at his farm at Evansdale on Thursday, the 27th inst., when they submitted the whole .of his superior stock of dairy cows, farm implements, elc, for sale. The day proved remarkably fine, and there was a large attendance of dairymen, speculators, and farmers from the surrounding districts. There was a keen demand for cows in full milk or close to profit, and all coming near this class met with very brisk competition. The bulk of the herd were spring calvers, and for these there was not so much demand, but all sold at full current values. The horses, being rather aged, were not competed for, and were passed in. Implements also met a poor sale. Dairy cows near profit sold up to £8 10s, spring calvers to £6 12s 6d, young cattle to £2 Bs, implements, etc., at market values."
