Thci-c «as a fair attendance at ChristchurcK Tattersalrs on Wednesday last, when Messrs Pyne and Co. offeied a large number of thoroughbred horses for sale. The sale was very duli, the majority of the horses offered failing to find purchasers. The following are the paiticulars of the horses sold : —

SALE AT GEASSLEA,
A sale was held at Mr G. G. Stead's Grasslea stud farm, on Wednesday afternoon, when Messrs Pyne and Co. offered a number of Mr Stead's ' horses. There was only a small attendance, but the sale was a. satisfactory, one, taken on the whole. Cliief interest cent-red in Machine Gun," for whom the bidding ran rapidly to 575g5, at which price the winner of the Great Easter Handicap was knocked down to Messrs Nettlefold and Solomon. Savoury waqp£>assed in at 25Ogs, and there were no bidders ior Bloomer or the two-year-old filly Petticoat, but all the other lots offered were disposed of. I At the yearling sales there was a large attendance and active competition. The Graf ton — Scotch Mary colt, half-brother to Great Scot, brought 1420g5; and the Wallace — Menah colt 1250g5. Two co'.ts belonging to Mr J. B. Reid, of New Zealand, sold for 80gs and 75gs, and a filly for 80gs. Mr Craig, of New Zealand, bought' a half-sister to Dewey for 85gs,' and the Simmer— New Star colt for 160gs. April 28. At-the yearling sales the brother of Hautboy brought 950gs. Mr Darcy. of New Zealand, paid llOgs fcr the Gosscon — Idolatry filly. One V hundred * and fifty-four yearlings realised : £ 22,666.
YEARLING SALES.
At the yearling sales, Mr Chirnside, of Victoria, paid 1750gs for a liaJf brother to Lord - Cardigan. The Orzil — Kettledrum colt brought 650gs and the Positano — Jacinth colt oOOgs.
