Notes from Cromwell.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
CROMWELL, April 19. The weather is fine, with heavy frosts at night, and the river is falling steadily. There 13 nothing sensational to report so far in the dredging lino. xJoth Electiic dredges are working steadily, but are not doing anything big yet. The Junction JN'o. 1 dredge is on rich wash. The manager has made considerable nnpiovcments in the dredge during the summer, so that she can now handle the rough ground well. No. 3 dredge has now faced into the bank, and should soon get good returns.
The Hartley and Kiley and Alpine iso. 2 dredges are both working steadily, but prospects arc poor. The Consols prospects are fair, but the dredge has not got opened out yet properly on account of sunken buckets.
iioth of the Rise and Sh.ne dredges are on good wash, and should have good returns for some time.
