The choir, under Mr E. W. Hutton's direction, sang several part songs. The club's pipers opened the proceedings with bagpipe music, an* Mr R. A. de __ Lau tour's orchestra supplied selections that were greatly appreciated, and that gentleman's violin .aolo merited the emphatic encore it rocGJv&d. Miss E. Wright wag a most efficient accompanist to the soloists, and Master John Huggins was warmly applauded for his piano solo, introducing popular Scotch airs. At the end of the programme Dr Stenbouse proposed a vote of thanks to the singer* and other contributors to the programme, .and urged members not to leave all the work of the club to the committee, but to show their individual enthusiasm by bringing forward young singers and reciters to assist at future entertainments. The vote was carried by acclamation, and three cheers were give-n for Mr Hutton, the retiring musical director. After singing " Aaid lang syne" the hall was cleared for a dance. The young Lochinvars present met with no refusals when lassies were asked to tread a measure, consequently the pleasures of the gathering were kept up to a late hotrr.
