The ground was very j dry. and the turnips, vhich nere not thriving were freshened up by another shower on Saturday mght. Theie is ~o far as I can learn, very l'-ttle <iace of the potato disea?& in this district. More is to be heard about the socalled'"red gate"' ob=tiuction, which has existed for over 20 years. If 9 11 gates have to be removed from load lines, and the section- fenced, great inconvenience will be caused, as the rive* would be cut off loi watering stock on some sections. School. — Miss Liddle. of Dunedin, has been appointed mispress, and taken up her diities at the local school. B'linny. — Rabbit traps are again busy carting bunny to market. The Haivest. — Mr M'Donald is busy threshing and chaff-cultmg. Several oi the farmers have their season's work past. A and P. Society. — The Strath Taieri A. and P. Society's show will be held on Easter ilonday, when £163 will be given in prizes. Tha day will bf enlivened by the Moramgton Brass Band, who have been engaged for the occasion.
