WAIWERA.

April 2!.— The weather has been changeab'e ior t, considerable time, with eoinetiines high winds and rain. This, of course, delays harvest operations, and although the greater part of The crops is stacked, there is still a. good bit to be taken m. Considering the rather broken weather we have had, it is surprising- how little damage has been done to the grain crops so far. On the -whole, I believe there will be quite an average quantity of grain, satisiaetory alike both in yield and quality.

Still Progressing. — I have it on pretty good authority that there is to be at least three ■weddings in our midst shortly after Easter. — Mr John M'Calium' has his hous-e> shifted ever to his newly-acquired pxoperty. It is really a nice, cosy spot, with its surrounding; belts of trees, -shrubs, etc. — Messrs Johnson, of Kaihiku, have also added con=ideiabiy to thenproperty by purchasing Caldirving estate. — Mr .lame's Xico'. viho has retired from farming in \hf meantime, has leassd his farm to Mr Afgher, a young man well and favourably known ii> the district. — "* y e have itlso h.-'d a departure fiom our nndit — DaviJ Anderson, who is an athlete of no mean order, and who lias lately been appointed to a position in ihe bank. On the whole, we aie getting our fair share of changes.

Land Prospect s.— The Greenfield estate having cone eff so woll has had a veiy ch-eer-in° eftect on all our farmers,, who anticipate quite a bright future for Sotith Ota^n, which, from some unaccountable reason, has been kept in tho background "in the past, and is only jidw becoming r>ro"\»rly known and appreciated.

AgiicultursT. — Stock everywhere are looking remarkably well, feed being plentiful and prospects fanly bright. Mr Broad has sold his threshing mill and plant, and it is not known yet who will replace him. However, seeing that this is a. splendid distuct for a mill, there should be ro difficulty m getting tlne?liei3 in due- course.
