SALE OF WELLINGTON PARK.
AUCKLAND, April 17. To-day the Wellington Paik Estate, formerly the property of Mr Thomas Morrin, was sold by auction by order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, at the request of the mortgagee. The estate is situated at Panmure, and has for many years past been used as a. breeding establishment for thoroiighbred horses, and is at present occupied by the Wellington Park Stud Company (Limited). It comprises about 266 acres of land, on portions of which stand the homestead and several outbuildings, the total valuation by the Government Lands Valuation Department being close on £20,000. The buildings are insured to the extent of J345G0, and are valued at close on £6000. The first and only bid received was £9500, at which figure the estate was knocked down, the purchasers being Messrs E. M .Coleman and J. Owen. The estate was purchased purely as a speculation, and to v/hat use it will be put in future is not yet known.
Eighteen Chinese arrived at Wellington from Sydney or. Wednesday evening by the Monowai. Fifteen of them had never been to the country before, and will jointly contribute £1500 to the revenue by payment of poll-tax.
