SALE OF DRAUGHT HORSES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report having soli on behalf of Mr Robert Cullen, of Owhiro, his bay draught stallion, to Mr Alexander Macfarlane, of Amuri, at a high figure. Thi3 magnificent colt is by Pride's Fancy, out of Nancy Lee, by Lord Salisbury, out of Jean, by the Governor. Pride' a Fancy, by Liq>i King, out of Pride, by Salisbury's Pride, out of Duchess 2nd. Lord Salisbury, by Young Conqueror, out of Darling, by Tintock, imported many years ago, has such an intercolonial representation that it ia needless to dwell on his merits. He was imported at a cost of 1500 guineas. Pride's Fancy has been very successful as a prize-taker, having taken champion at both Tsisxi qj^ jhajedin^ J?£gt_

ing such animals as Agitator and Aitken Brae. H's sire, Lion King, by Butish Lion, is also a large prize-v^nner. Many competent judges pronounce th<fs colt to be one of the best that have evpr lefl the Taien, and, while Mr Cullen is to be complimented on breeding puch a magnificent horse, equally is Mr Macfarlane to be complimented upon his judgment in picking such a specimen of the Clydesdale for his use. His neighbours will probably be also much benefited by this change of blood into their district. To the same purchaser they also record having sold, on behalf of Mr Robert Gavra, one of "his highly- bred mares. As this mare is very closely bred to Lord Salisbury, being by Mr Chartcrs's old favourite Loid Lyon, by Lord Salisbury, out of a Lord Salisbury mare, and as quality is the predominating featuie in this strain, Mr Macfarlaue is certainly on the road to have draught stock of a very superior quality at no distant date, and is certainly to be commended for his pluck in purchasing two such animals.
