BALLOT FOR CROWN LANDS.
NELSON. April 13. I A highly successful sale of Crown lands in the Maruia district, between N-eUon and Reefton* has taken place. There were 44 I sections, containing in all 22,554- acres, and j the necessary ballot was conducted at Murchison on Thursday. Thirty-one sections, comprising over 15,000 acres, were taken up, and only in four eases was thei-e a single application, while for one there were 39 applicants. It is anticipated that the remaining sections will be secured by the unsuccessful applicants. WAIPAWA, April 14-.
