EGG-LAYiNG COMPETITION.

BLENHEIM, April 4-. Entries for the New Zealand egg-laying competition, to be commenced at Blenheim shortly, have closed. The total number of pens entered is ICI. Blenheim is represented with 55 entries. The other entries have been received from all parts of New Zealand, and include three from South Australia. Almost every town from Auckland to Invercargill is interested. There are 26 entries of white Leghorns, 20 of silver Wyandottes, 16 of black Orpingtons, 12 of brown Orpingtons, 9 of buff Orpingtons, and 9 other breeds are l'epresenbed. The pens will be completed at the end of the week, at a cost of £307. The official opening will be held during May.
