TOWN v. COUNTRY.
Taking advantage of tho presence of a number of country cricketers in town, the> Otago Cricket Association, with a vi&w of encouraging country cricket, arranged two matches for their benefit against metropolitan teams at Carisbrook yesterday afternoon. The Country A team was drawn against an eleven which included amongst others Williams (of the Albion), Gollar (o£ Opoho), Skitch, Drumm, Mackersy, Moore (of DunecJin). The country team won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 158 before the last wicket feH. Of this total Pitches (57), Clark (35), Reid (21), and Edwards (16) batted well. The town team followed, and made 219 for the loss of six wickets. Moox batted splendidly for the town team. Ho scored freely all rouna the wicket, and when but one run off the century was caught. Bowling Analysis. —Reardon, 5 wickets for 65 runs; S'kitch, 4 wickets for 42 runs; Mao kersy. 1 wicket for 19 runs.
I Bowling Analysis.—Gunthorp, 2 wickets foi j9l runs; Reid, 1 wicket for 47 ru_ns. The second country team was opposed I to an eleven which included a number of First Grade Carisbrook batsmen. In their first innings the country side -ould only compile 34- against the bowling of A. Howden and Stevens, to which the town team replied with 192, of which total A. Howden made 90 by vigorous cricket. Going in. again the country team had eight wickets down for 55 when stumps were drawn. Marshall played a good innings for 21. Details : —
