CLEARING SALES.

The National Mortgage and Agency Company of ' New Zealand? (Limited) report having held a clearing sale at Waiwera Park on Wednesday last, Ist inst. The farm being sold, every lot was submitted for absolute sale. The weather was favourable and there was a large attendance of buyers, who competed! spiritedly ' for every lot, resulting in a complete clearance at very satisfactory prices. Breeding ewes brought 21s 6d; two-tooth do, 21s; lambs, 13s 6d; fat ewes, 18s 6d; 30 cattle, to £6 10s; 6 draught horses- brought tip to £45 10s for geldings and £41 10s for mares; hack, £13 10s; aged pony, £9 15s. The agricultural implements, harness, buggy, etc., being all in good order, brought equally satisfactory prices. The furniture, being almost as good as new, was keenly competed for, and brought fair values. The same firm also report having held their usual Clinton sale on Thursday last, inst., when theie ■was a yaroing of 1200 to 1400 sheep and a •few head of cattle. There was a fair attendance, but bidding was not brisk, and most of the lots were passed in at auction, although the majority of the yarding ultimately changed hands at up to 22s for good breeding ewes and 14s 6d for crossbred lambs.

Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report having held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr George Lawson, at Taieri Beach, on Friday last, 3rd inst., when ali his live stock, farm implements, etc., were submitted to auction. Knowing that Mr Lawson had' sold his farm and that everything was being offered for bona fide sale, the Coast settlers turned out iv force, and several buyers were present from Taieri, Tokomairiro, and Balclutha as well. For all the live stock there was satisfactory competition. ' The dairy cows were mostly young and good sorts, and for all in full milk -very good prices were paid. The- sheeo were keenly competed for, and realised high values/ Implements, furniture, etc., realised fair prices. Croswredi ewes sold at 20s; crossbred lambs, 13s 7d; draught horses, to £30 10s; dairy cows. £6 2s €d to £A 2s 6d ; heifers,; £3 12s 6d to £2 10s ; calves. 25s to 21s; pigs, 75s to 355. They also sold horses and dairy cows on account of Mrs Fallowfield and Messrs And. Higgie, J. Lees. a.r-3. J. Jpseph, and furniture on account of Mrs Symons.
