Rabbitskins.— There has been no sale this week.

Sheepskins.— Catalogues offered by the various firms on Tuesday were of the usual size for this time of year, and the attendance of buyers an average one. Cables from London reported a fall in that market, and in consequence buyers were not prepared to do business at late rates except for lambskins in °-ood shipping condition. Notwithstanding this values were, on the whole, very good and quite up to London equivalent. Quotations: Best halfDreds, 7d to 7fd per lb ; medium to good, 6d to 6Jd ; best merinos, 6Jd to 7.\d ■ medium to good, s|d to 6£d; best crossbreds, /d to 7£d; medium to good, 5Jd to 6d • butchers' and pelts (best), 3s to 3s 3d each; butchers' lambskins (best), 3s 3d to 3s 9d each. Hides. — Catalogues were smaller than usual last week, and the market steady at late rates. Medium-weight hides were, if anything, a shade higher, and the following are current values:— Prime heavy ox hides, 5Jd to 6d per lb; medium weight, 4\d to 4|d ; light weight, 4.hd to 4|d ; prime heavy cow hides, 4^d to sd : medium weight, 4*d to 4|d; light weight, 4-kl to 4 ld; yearlings, 2s 9d to 5s 9d each; calfskms, Is 6d to 2s 9d each. •

Tallow and Fat. — The market shows 110 change, all consignments leaching Dunedin being readily saleable at the following prices — viz.: Best Tendered tallow, 183 to 20s; medium to j?ood, 13s to 17s 6d ; inferior, 12s to 14g Cd . best caul fat-, lis to 15s; rottgh fat, 12s to 14s.

Grain. — Oats: A few sale, chiefly B grade quality, have baen made for coastal shipment, biit the export demand i=; by no means steady. Local inquiries for milling oats are not so stiong, and, although prices have not suffered to any extent, the tone of the market is somewhat easier. Piime milling (with moderate demand), is H la 13 9£<3j goojl to best

feed (which ha^-e most attention), Is 7Jd to Is B^d; inferior (which are out of favour) to lvedium (for which there is ready sale), Is 4^d to Is 7d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat : Samples of new season's grain from northern districts are now being offered at prices slightly under late quotations. For good to prime milling samples of old wheat there is fair demand, but medhim sorts haver no attention. Fowl wheat is offering more plentifully and at slightly lower values. Prime milling, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; medium, 3a 2d to 3s sd; best whole fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id; broken and damaged, 2s Gd to 2s 10<J per bushel (sacks extra). Barley: Prime malting lines are in fair request. Medium quality is not sought after, except as milling, for which there is a good demand- Feed 13 also scarce. Prime malting, 3s to 3s 6d« medium, 2s 6d to 2s lOd; milling, 2s 3d to 2s Cd ; feed, Is 9d to 2s 2d per bushel (sacks extra).

Potatoes. — With moderate arrivals, last week's values have been well maintained. We have also good inquiry for Derwents for forward delivery. Best freshly-dug kidneys and other sorts, £6 10s to £7 10s per ton (sacks in).

Chaff.— The market continues to be well supplied. Fortunately most of the arrivals have been of good quality, which is the only class in favour with buyers, so that a large number of consignments have been readily quitted on arriva 1 . Medium and inferior sorts are not easily disposed of. Prime oaten sheaf, £3 10s to £3 12s 6d ; medium to good, £3 to £3 7s 6d; inferior, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton (bags extra).

Pressed Straw. — Oaten, to 455; wheaten, to 35s per ton.

Hay. — Good to prime, £2 15s to £3 5a per ton.

Clearing Sale at Otakou. — Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report having held a clearing sale at Otakou on Tuesday. 28th. ult., on account of the estate of P. Ryan. The day being a fine a large number of settlers and dealers were present, and as the stock was in very fair condition it brought full value. Dairy cows sold at up to £7 7s 6d, and implements realised current rates.

["The individual reports of stock agent*, vrcol. rabbitskin, or grain brokers can be inserted 111 the Daily Times and Otr.go Witness at special rates.]

All quotations aro subject to market fluctuations. We would ask farmers when sending samples always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers: — Wheat — Market remains unchanged. Best velvet and Tuscan, 3s 7d to 3s 9d ; red chaff and Hunters, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; fowl wheat, 3s Id! to 3s 2d. Oats. — Demand has slackened off, and prices are easier.
