SOUTHLAND.
A fire destroyed the 14-roomed house of A. Simon, farmer, Myross "Bush, on Saturday morning, the family having a narrow escape, Leoni Simon being severely scorched in trying to get some clothes for the children. Mr Simon was in Christchurch. It is doubtful if there are any insurances.
We have to acknowledge receipt of Stone's Otpgo and Southland ABC Guide and Diary for January. The New Zealand Government State Fire Insurance Department armoiinces that it will be prepared to accept risks on ard after January 4. The location of thp Dunedin office will be announced at a later date.
