THE MEAT MARKET. jN'APIER, December 29. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company have received the following cable from their London office:— Beef hinds declined id perlb. Quotations: Mutton— Canterbury 4id^ Napier, Wellington, and iNbrth Island, 4|d. Beef — Hindquarters, 3|d; fores, 3|d. <JRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.. •Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report: — We held -our -weekly auction- sale of grain and produce at 1 our stores on Wednesday. There was a small attendance of buyers, and ■ only a-few of 'the lots 'offered 'were "quitted, the balance being passed' in. Values ruled as Tinder: — > .-,.'._ t' . ' Oats.— There is good demand, for, prime'milling A .grade, and fajr inquiry for B grade lines. Local stocks are not large, and most shipping orders are being supplied "direct from country stations. We quote: Prime milling, Is 7d to Is Sd; good to best feed, Is sftd to Is 6£d; medium, Is 4d to Is 5d per bushel, , sacks extra. Wheat. — No business of any importance has been passing in milling quality. Stocks are jaot great, but millers have a fair quantity of flour on hand, and are at present holding off the market. Fowl wheat isl^ri£«fjyialler compass, and has fair demand b : o-£lf^^6^y and for export. We quote: Prime milling, 3s 6d, to 3s Sd; medium, 3s 2d to 3s sd; whole fowl wheat, 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 2s 6d to 2s lOd per bushel, sacks extra. Potatoes. — Small consignments of old Derwents have been coming forward, and these find sale at £3 10s to £i 103 per ton, sacks in. Chaff. — Prime oaten sheaf is in good demand. Limited supplies are arriving, and these are readily quitted at late values. Medium x and discoloured lofs are not in request. "We quote : Best oaten sheaf, £3 17s 6d to- £4 2s 6d ; extra bright and 1 heavy, to JE4 ss ; medium -to good, JE3 10s to £3 15s per ton, bags extra.
