Bt Fbitz. Tljie Plimrpton Park Trotting Club was favoured with perfect weather for the opening of the summer meeting on Boxing Day, and -there 'was a large attendance. Speculation was ; fairly brisk, the investments totalling £3492, 1 as against £3704 on the first day of last year's meeting. The racing, which was somewhat tame, opened with the Trial Handicap, in which five went to the post. Soubrino, Globelia. and Allmoxmt were evenly backed. Allmount made all the running, but two furlongs from home Soubrino. caught him. only to break immediately after. On settling down, Soubrino quickly cut the leader down, and won by a length' and a-half. The others were a long way behind. The Ladies' Bracelet, foi which the field, numbered eight, was a good race between . Sui-01, The Manager, and Satanella. At the end of hali a mile The Manager had a, goodlead,' but' in the run to -the -straight Sunol got : on terms, and, after- a good firish, Sunol' won by " a length. Satanella., who started slowJy, \vas onlya length behind' The Manager. There tfere'six starters for the Sockburn Handicap. Broncho Bill went off in front, followed by Lazy Jack and Cedar. At the end of a mile Oedar, Broncho Bill, and Lazy Jack were together, with Viscount close up. Half a mile further on Cedar was well clear of Broncho Bill when he broke. On being steadied, Cedar caught Broncho Bill again, and won by six lengths, Viscount being third 100 yards away, just in front of George L 11. In a field of seven that contested the Innovation Handicap, Sal Tasker and Little Mary were most solidly supported. Little Mary was soon in front, with Braanbles in apttendiance, and, never being headed, Ldttle Mary won by six lengths, Brambles beating Sal Tasker by a length. Six started for the Islington Handicap, General Grigg being a hot favourite. Going off well, he soon had a commanding lead, and won, pulling up, by four lengths. There was a good race -between Verax, Nabocklish, and Milroy over the last mile, but Milroy outstayed I the other pair after being- caught, and beat I Verax home by two lengths. In a field of six that went out for the Ricoarton Handicap Abbey Fail was a better favourite than Moutere. Glenroy led for a mile and a half, w;hen he broke, and Transvaa-l, going to the front, I won by eight lengths, Glenroy beating Moutere by three lengths. Moutere showed a lot of pace, but went vnkindty all through the race. i Ten faced tha starter for the Electric Handicap. For once Gertie left the mark snmrtly, and, she soon had ai commanding lead. At the half-mile post Auctioneer 11, Buggies, Inglewood, and' Nellie More were bunched six lengths behind Gertie. Neaxing the straight Ruggles and -Auctioneer II closed on the leader, bub Gertie drew away again, and won comfortably by six lengths, Rugg'lea beating Auctioneer II by two lengths. Inglewood put in a great first -mile, but could not keep up the pace. Nellie More was fourth, just in front of Bushman and Inglwood. The Dash Handicap saw five go to the post. Flora G. went off like a flash, and had! everything beaten at the end of half 9, mile, SJniynjS easily, by. tb.£ee length*.
