ALEXANDRA.

December 28. — A very old resident of the district, Mrs Foohey, died suddenly yesterday evening. She was about in good health till pretty well the last. The cause of death was heart failure.. We had very fair weather for the Christmas holidays. Boxing Day passed off quietly in the town. Most of the people were away at the Cromwell races and at picnics. Yesterday was very windy, with unpleasant duststorrns. We iiad rain last; night, which was badly wanted, as the town water supply was only available for a few hours daily. Most of the dredges are closed down till after "the New Tear.
