ALBION v. NASEBIc. Fine weather fa\oured the Albion Cricket Club's team on their visit to Naseby. Buggies were in attendance at Ranfurly on j Saturday to convey the party to Naseby, j where, after meeting the local cricketer?. I the playing ground was visited. The ground } was rather a' surprise to the Dunedin men, J who, like most town, cricketers, were of the opinion that country cricket grounds are merely paddocks. But right in the centre of Naseby a very pretty little recreation ground was found, surrounded by trees, with a bicycle track and a pavilion, the grass in good order and the general appearance giving the impression that the whole was well looked after. Practice was then indulged in, after which a stroll round the town was made. On Sunday the visitors were driven to various places of interest ! round about Wedderburn. Monday was a beautiful day, and at 10.30 a.m. the match started, the visitors taking the field and Naseby the wickets, possession of which the latter kept till a few minutes before 1 p.m.. totalling 119 runs. Of this number Boddington (421, Marslin (19), Hilton (17), O'Dviscoir (16), and James (11) were the principal scorere. Shacklock bowled unchanged throughout, arid wound up with the average" of five wickets for 46 runs. Duthie (two for 17) and Stewart (two for 23) accorded him most support. The Albion started batting after lunch, and were <not disposed of till 5.30 p.m.. during which time they amassed the good total of 247, Stuart (who was missed by James after scoring 20) making 105. Cummings (*^ Shackloijk (31), Buckle (19), and Shelton (12) reached double figures. Nearly all the Naseby team had a turn at" bowling, the most successful beinsr Boddington. (four for 42) and K. Marshall (two for 42). The Naseby men then played out time, but in doing so lost six wickets for 48, K. Marshall making 17. The field ing on both sides wa? patchy, and a number of catches were missed. In the evening the visitors were entertained at dinner in the Ancient Briton Hotel. Mr E. C. Cutten (mayor] occupying the chair. After an pxcelletit repast. sex'Gral toasts w«re honoured, the principal being "The Visitors." proposed by the chairman and responded to by Mr Shelton, captain of the Albion team, and "The Nosebv Club." prorsose'd by Mr Shelton and replied to by Mr Boddington. captain of the local tr>am. In respondine to the fcw»t of "Cricket," Mr Shaddock, the well-known Nottingham player, save some interesting reminiscences of English cricket and also some very useful hints how to become proficient at the game. A long and varied oonoert rrogramme was also gone through. The visifina 1 team returned to town on Tuesday well pleased with the interesting and pleasant trip.
