SPECIAL SALE OF CATTLE AT WAIPIATA.
Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) report having held a. special sale of cattle at Waipia-ta saleyards on Tuesday, the 13th inst., when they offered 630 head of mixed cattle, mostly yearlings to tworyear-olds. Unfortunately the state of the weather did not favour a very large attendance, but notwithstanding there was a fairly, representative gathering of ■farmers from the surrounding districts. Competition was very slack, but although the greater number of the entry was passed ait auction the, .most of them were, afterwards sold, privately at current "rates. They sold iox Mr A. J. Keith (Oamarii) 450 yearling's, two-year-olds, and store aypd dairy cows at' £7, and for Mr James M'GilL (Waikouaiti) two-year-old steers, yearlings, .store, and. dairy cows, and cows with - calvesat foot to £5 155. The same firm also report having- held a clearing sale at the faim. of Mr Spithman. of Matakanui. There was a -good attendance at the sale, and everything was disposed of under good competition at satisfactory prices. Draught horses sold at £40 to £14; light horses to £30; and implements and sundries at good-rates.
