PURAKANUI SCHOOL CONCERT.

The Purakanui School concert, the proceeds of which go towards the prize fund, was held in the Good Templars' Hall on Friday evening. Mr Charles Cassey (chairman of the School Committee) very efficiently fulfilled the duties of chairman. 'Most of the items on the programme were by the children, but the following contributed, viz. — Mrs Steels, solos ;, Miss Jordan, reading; Mr A. Wright (of Dunedin), solo ; while Mr Waldie gave selections o.n his splendid graphophone. When the concert part had been disposed of, Mr Panting presented the prizes. Each pupil received a book, but the following gained special prizes : —

Sewing. — Ellen Driver 1, Violet Drake 2.

Good Attendance Prizes. — Andrew Bootten, Grace Bootten, Daviu Miller, Sarah Miller, Thomas Mawson, Gordon Cassey. Edith Green, Lily Green, Irene Driver. Alice Wix, Charles Steele, Edwin King, Ellen Steele, Joseph Mawson, and William Trezise.
