NAPIER WOOL SALES.
NAPIER, December 14. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, 6700 bales being offered, as against 5602 at the first sale last season. The sale was an excellent one, the bidding being excited; and in many cases, where the buyers wanted particular lines, extreme prices were paid. The clips throughout were well grown, and in very light condition. In comparison with last s&ason'a first sale the prices throughout were better by 3d to 4d for all well-grown fleece lots, while bellies and pieces rose to about the same extent. The wool in most demand, at the highest prices were high-grade Lincolns ancl Ronmeys. The following is the range of prices: — Lambs' wool, BJd to 9Jd; fine crossbred fleece, bright condition,, lOd to 10£ d; coarse crossbred, 9d to lOSd; merino fleece, lOfd; bellies and pieces, 6Jd to B|d ; locks, 4d to sd.
